It was a time of glory and pain, of heady days when ordinary Indians were driven by a higher cause, to fight for the freedom of their motherland.
'I remember the confusion over the slogan, 'Karenge Ya Marenge! (Do Or Die!)'.' 'I think this confusion arose because Gandhiji was arrested.' 'People used to wonder: What are we supposed to do?' 'How are we supposed to die?' 'How are we to fight the British?'
The fight for freedom was long and hard and that is why it is important to go back to the monuments that celebrate those who fought the good fight.
